What data we process

• Birth details: first name, date of birth, place of birth and (optionally) time of birth. Needed to calculate your chart.
• Email address: to send you your chart, your reading and your payment confirmation, and one reminder if you do not complete a payment.
• Your question and, if you give one, your rating of the reading.
• Payment details: processed directly by Stripe. We never see your card or account number.
• Technical data: IP address and browser type, for security and to prevent abuse.
• Country: we derive the country you are in from your IP address, so the site opens in the right language. This happens on our own server, without any outside service. We store only the country code, not the IP address. If you choose a language yourself, a functional cookie (taal) remembers that choice for one year.
• Referral source: which channel, post, advert or partner link brought you to the site (for example a TikTok video or a link in a YouTube description). Your browser remembers this for 30 days in local storage (vera_attr), without a cookie and without a visitor ID. If you request a free chart, order a question or start a monthly letter, we store this source with it.
• Visit measurement: for each visit we record once the channel, country, language and the page you arrived on. No IP address, cookie or other identifier that leads back to you.

Why, and on what legal basis

• Calculating your chart and writing your reading: performance of the contract.
• The free first impression and the email about it: at your request (pre-contractual steps).
• One reminder for an incomplete payment: legitimate interest. You can object at vera@verastrology.com.
• Showing your response on the website: only with your explicit consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
• Advertising measurement via Meta: only with your consent, or without cookies using a hashed email address.
• Measuring which channels, posts and partners bring visitors and customers, and paying partners their commission: legitimate interest. We only use this data in totals. You can object via vera@verastrology.com, or clear your browser's local storage.

Artificial intelligence

Vera is an AI astrologer. Your birth details and your question are processed by a language model from Anthropic (Claude) to write the reading. Anthropic does not use this data to train its models. The astronomical calculation runs on our own server.

Who we share data with

• Stripe (payments), Resend (email), Anthropic (text generation), Hetzner (hosting in the EU), OpenStreetMap/Nominatim (only the name of your birthplace) and Meta (advertising measurement, hashed email address).
• Stripe, Resend and Anthropic also process data in the United States. These transfers are protected by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
• Partners (for example a YouTube channel that links to us) receive no personal data, only totals such as the number of visits and purchases through their link.
• We do not sell data and share nothing with anyone else.

How long we keep it

• Incomplete orders: 30 days, then deleted automatically.
• Paid orders and readings: 24 months; billing records 7 years (legal accounting obligation).
• Free charts: 12 months.
• Visit measurements (no personal data): 24 months.

Your rights

You can access, correct or delete your data, object to processing, or withdraw your consent. Email vera@verastrology.com; we reply within 30 days. You may also complain to the Belgian Data Protection Authority (dataprotectionauthority.be) or the supervisory authority in your own country, such as the ICO in the United Kingdom.

Cookies

The site itself uses one functional cookie: taal, only if you choose a language yourself at the top of the page, to remember that choice for one year. No consent is needed for it. Meta only sets a cookie if you accept advertising measurement. Form details you enter during your visit stay in your own browser. The source of your visit is kept for 30 days in your browser's local storage (vera_attr), plus one marker per visit in session storage (vera_bezoek). These are not cookies, are not shared with other sites, and you can clear them at any time in your browser settings.
